About Exposure Mission Trips
1- 2 weeks
Exposure teams can be of any number of people between 2 and 12 -15 and are sent on short term missions of up to 2 weeks and focus on a variety of needs including Evangelism, Preaching, Teaching, Leadership Training, construction, medical, children and youth ministry, job skills training and women’s ministry.
Focus of Exposure Mission Trips is sharing the gospel
Construction
Many construction teams are sent to work alongside local workers to help with the building of a school, medical centre, home or church. The work is completed in stages and depending on the timing of the exposure team, the state of the building will vary. Some of the tasks construction teams can be expected to do are: laying foundation, ‘brick burning’, painting, renovating indoors, digging and placing posts and more! The type of buildings depends on the the global location. In Africa, many homes are mud huts, while in South America many of the homes will you use wood and brick
Medical/Dental
These teams are made up of experienced and qualified medical professionals who work in Canada as doctors, nurses, dental assistants, dental hygienists, dentists or optometrists. These members serve overseas by donating their skills and talents to people living in areas without access to medical care, typically in remote or isolated areas. Medical teams would be expected to provide routine oral cleaning, bring and administer medications, perform examinations, treat illnesses and educate communities about health and well being and Youth Ministry.
Children
This ministry includes a variety of facets including, working in feeding centres (cooking or serving) working in orphanages, participating in home visits, teaching ESL, teaching Bible stories, organizing crafts and leading recreational programs for kids. Children are vulnerable and some live in terrible conditions, desperately needing love and compassion.
Life Skills Development/Job Training
These are specific teams which are sent out to work with programs that already exist to provide communities with sustainable ways to improve their livelihood. An example of this type of team would be the sustainable gardening project in Peru. The team will travel to work alongside families who are living in the slums, and support the educational agriculture program there. As students graduate from the program, the team will also help families plant these gardens. Volunteers would be expected to work with families, deliver supplies, support educational program and teach specific skills.
Womens Ministry
Women helping Women ministry encompasses a variety of roles, including teaching sewing skills, counselling, providing childcare, leading Bible studies, cooking and teaching women about hygiene and nutrition. Women face many unique challenges worldwide, including being treated as chattel, as objects which can be bought and sold. This ministry is vital in reframing the way that women see themselves- as a precious daughter of the Saviour, not as an object. The ministry also enables women to develop specialized skills, which they may use to start a small business, thus increasing their earning potential. “I think the greatest thing I experienced was to see God performing miracles first hand” – Volunteer, Swaziland.

Extended
The extended program is for anyone who is called to serve overseas for longer than 2 years.
Is God calling you to the mission field?
The extended program is for anyone who is called to serve overseas for longer than 2 years. In order to create lasting and sustainable change in communities worldwide, the extended opportunity allows individuals to understand the complex needs of various communities and develop ways to address them. Field workers receive short term mission teams to help them with projects that require extra help. We work together with missionaries to support the efforts which they are undertaking, and donations through Missionary Ventures GB go directly to specific projects, initiatives or personal support.
The work varies according to the skill and experience of field workers. An example of a few current projects include: the operation of a birth centre, church planting in the Amazon, medical ministry in Africa, feeding centres and programs for kids in the Caribbean.
No two mission projects are the same, rather we tailor the strengths of our applicants with the needs of the communities. We provide personal support from the office while you are on the field and act as your base back home while you are serving abroad.
The process
PRAY
The call to the mission field is not for everyone, so first and foremost we encourage you to seek guidance and pray about this decision in your life.
DISCOVER
Once you are ready, you may contact our office and we will provide you with a variety of opportunities and projects which exist overseas and are waiting for long term help. Some individuals come with a specific need or location that they wish to address and others come as blank slates, with no boundaries on how they may serve. We will discuss a variety of options with you and decide which one fits best with your talents and desires.
APPLY
Formal application process and an interview will determine if now is the right time for you (and your family) and whether this is a good fit for both MVGB and the missionary.
PREPARE
Mission prep work is the last thing before you pack your belongings and prepare to travel oversees. This type of workshop will help those without mission work experience gain a bit of background knowledge and helps those who have already served in missions refine their skills.
