Help Needed After Guatemala Volcano Eruption
On Sunday June 4th, a huge volcano erupted in Guatemala, killing dozens and injuring hundreds. Several towns were buried in a pyroclastic cloud of hot gas, mud and debris. Guatemalan authorities calculate that 1.7 million people have been affected by the eruption and large areas remain covered in ash.
In the wake of this devastation, our hearts are hurting for the people of Guatemala. This special Central American country is where Missionary Ventures began in 1983, and where we have many missionaries serving today.
We also recognize that decades of partnerships put us in a unique position to respond to this crisis. As the needs pour in, we’re asking for your help in meeting the current and ongoing needs of the people of Guatemala.
One of our missionaries wrote that her church in Guatemala is collecting tangible donations from the community, but they will need funds to help transport them to shelters. People will also need new housing and help rebuilding their lives and communities.
Please consider a gift of love today, and please pray for everyone affected by this great tragedy.
