Prayer letter from Rob Carter
India Mission Trip: 9-19 June 2023
I am excited to be visiting India for the first time since late 2019. It will be good to reconnect in person (rather than Zooming) with some of the key Christian workers in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It will be particularly special to see my good friend Mackie (the director of Missionary Ventures India), his wife Beu, and children. They have become ‘my Indian family’ since we met back in 2007.
I will be flying solo this time and, in my mind at least, I envisage this visit being more relational and trying to assess where people, churches and existing projects stand following the ravages of the Covid pandemic e.g. the orphaned or vulnerable children we help to support. Please pray for me – I will be speaking in churches, to youth, and to leaders. I will also be having important discussions about an exciting new project and existing and potential new ministry partners.
As I have been praying about the trip, I have been sensing God saying “Be Prepared for the Unexpected”. How do you get ready for something when you don’t know what that something is? It sounds impossible, but I feel there are two areas. The first is for me to be spiritually ready, and I am spending more time praying, studying God’s word, and preparing messages for this trip than ever before. The second is to be ready financially. Erika and I have been able, by the grace of God, to save and pay for the full cost of the trip.
However, as in other developing nations, many ordinary people in India are still facing tremendous hardship, and I believe the LORD will bring some of the most pressing needs to my attention during this visit. I am therefore planning to take a special ‘Blessing Fund’ to be able to respond with His love and compassion.
If you would like to be part of this blessing, you can donate through the Missionary Ventures website form below and choose ‘India Blessing fund’ or by Bank transfer (details on the right side of page). Your donations can be gift aided in the usual way.
I promise to send you a report on my return.
Always with love,
Rob Carter
