A Critical Need in Rural Kenya: Help Build 22+ Latrines Before the Deadline
In rural Kenya, a major health transformation is underway—but families urgently need your help.
Woven Together Ministries, a Missionary Ventures Great Britain (MVGB) ministry partner in Kenya, is facing an immediate and unexpected challenge. Local government chiefs have mandated that every family village (boma) must have a functioning latrine by 31st July—or face severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
This is a welcome but sudden move toward improving public health, hygiene, and safety in a region where fewer than 1 in 100 villages currently have proper sanitation.
The Problem: A Good Regulation Comes with a Heavy Burden
Until now, many in the community simply relieved themselves in nearby bushes—unaware of the health dangers this creates. While we applaud the new sanitation requirement, it has created a financial crisis for our families.
Each latrine costs approximately $450 USD (approx. £350 GBP) to dig and build. For subsistence-level families, this amount is far beyond their reach.
