Floods Hit Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
(Read Time 3 mins 30 secs)
Dear Friends,
India is facing one of its most devastating floods in recent history. Torrential rains have submerged entire communities, leaving thousands homeless, without food, clean water, and basic necessities. Families are struggling to survive amidst rising waters, destroyed homes, and the risk of disease.
We have received an appeal letter from the Director of MV and have also had a request for help from our other key MV leader in India.
We urgently need your support to provide for the church families of MV leaders affected by the flood. Please pray for the situation, the families and prayerfully consider whether you can support financially.
The Director of MV India and others are going next week to give out food and water, clothing and necessary aid to those affected. We want to send them with a financial gift to help with the purchase of the aid.
Every donation, no matter how small, can make a difference. Together, we can help those affected rebuild their lives and offer hope during this critical time.
Please donate today and be a part of this mission by Bank Transfer (Bacs) Missionary Ventures Account no.10575828 and sort code 20-10-03 or fill form below. (state “India Flood Appeal”)
Thank you for your help and compassion.
Here is the letter we received from the Director of MV India:
Villages, towns and cities Submerged and Farmland Ruined in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Floods
The recent torrential rains in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have unleashed a devastating flood that has wreaked havoc across the region. Nearly 400 villages have been submerged, leading to widespread destruction and chaos. The intense and relentless downpour has resulted in significant loss of life, with tens of thousand individuals having perished in the calamity. In addition to the tragic human toll, lakhs of acres of farmland have been severely damaged, threatening the livelihoods of countless farmers and exacerbating the already dire situation.
Infrastructure Crippled as Floods Destroy Roads, Railways, and Ponds
The deluge has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including the complete destruction of roads and railways. The transport system has been paralyzed, with over 500 trains being cancelled due to the extensive damage to railway tracks and stations. The collapse of numerous ponds has led to widespread flooding in surrounding villages, compounding the disaster as entire communities find themselves submerged and isolated.
In the aftermath of the floods, many villages are grappling with a severe lack of basic necessities. Electricity has been cut off in numerous areas, leaving residents without power for lighting or communication. The contamination of water sources has led to a shortage of fresh drinking water, making it difficult for people to access clean and safe hydration. Food supplies are also critically scarce, with many families struggling to secure even the most basic sustenance.
In response to the devastation, thousands of individuals have been forced to abandon their homes and seek refuge in higher ground or the homes of relatives. This mass displacement has placed immense strain on these temporary shelters, as many homes are overcrowded and ill-equipped to accommodate the influx of displaced individuals. The limited space and resources in these temporary havens have only added to the suffering of those affected.
Ongoing Hardship in Flood
In the flood-affected states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the situation remains dire, with residents enduring severe shortages of drinking water and food. The overall condition is one of extreme hardship as communities grapple with the aftermath of the disaster and the challenging task of rebuilding their lives amidst widespread devastation. Please pray and support in this need of hour. Many of our leaders in the field with their families are starving , so this is the time we need to go and visit them. Your financial support will help them with necessary aid. Stand with us in prayer. Amen
Thankyou for taking the time to read and pray.
Love in Christ,
Darren and Susan Mitzi
